A $14 lunch and a wedding are not the same enquiry

Catering businesses usually run two things at once: a counter or a drop-off menu that people order like takeout, and a full-service side that starts with a conversation about a date. Most sites treat both as one contact form, so the wedding enquiry arrives with as little information as the sandwich order and the quote takes three emails to start. The work is the same either way; the website decides how much of it happens before you pick up the phone.

What we do differently

Two audiences, two mechanisms
Takeout is a transaction and runs through ordering. Catering is a conversation and runs through a consultation booking that asks the date, the headcount and the room before anyone replies.
Per-head pricing published
Ranges, minimums and what is included, in writing. Publishing the numbers loses the enquiries that were never going to convert and starts the rest at a realistic place.
Enquiries that arrive qualified
Date, guest count, service style, dietary requirements and venue, captured up front and attached to the enquiry. That is the difference between a lead you can price and a name you have to chase.
Dietary handled properly
Halal, kosher, vegan, allergen — for a caterer these are not footnotes, they are the first question. They belong in the menu data and in the enquiry, not in a note at the bottom of a PDF.

The marketing plays

Written for caterers — not recycled from another industry with the nouns swapped. This is the human half of the shop.

LinkedIn and corporate outreach

Staff lunches and office events are booked by office managers and executive assistants who order repeatedly once they trust you. That is a relationship channel, not a discount one.

Wedding directories and venues

Most wedding catering comes through the venue's preferred list. Being on it, with a page that answers the venue's questions, outperforms advertising to couples directly.

Google search for the specific ask

People search "halal catering", "vegan wedding catering", "office lunch delivery" — narrow terms with real intent. Pages written for those exact asks convert far better than one catering page.

Seasonal corporate campaigns

Holiday parties and year-end events are planned on a predictable calendar. A short campaign timed to when those budgets are set is worth more than steady spend all year.

What we'd build for caterers

Not a drawing of a catering site — the finished one, on the Starter Package spec this page describes. It is a sample business, not a client, and it says so on every page of it.

Two audiences on two mechanisms, not just two pages: takeout is a transaction and runs through the Clover ordering slot, catering is a conversation and runs through a four-step consultation booking. A $14 lunch is not a consultation and a wedding is not a checkout.
